We Love and miss You "Scoop"!!!!!
I could not agree more. Scoop always appeared relaxed while racing, flying down Matomi Wash driving with one hand.
Haha that’s robby gordon in my dads old truck
Hello PizzaMan, you've been to Tuweep and JumpUp Point. We like to visit both if possible. However, if you had to pick one, do you have a favorite. I know this might be hard because everytime I see pictures of either I'm just filled with so much joy. God has truly blessed us. If you get a chance, thank you. God Bless.
I'd put Toroweap first -- you can look straight down 3000' to see the Rio Colorado. At Jumpup, the scenery is also impressive, but you're eight miles from the river there. Jumpup has no facilities, but Toroweap has tables and a restroom. Here's a couple sets of photos from our trips in 2009 and 2018: tinyurl.com/2p8xwxyj
@@PizzaManagement God Bless! Wow! We shall zero in on Toroweap for sure. Everytime I see a picture I honestly "weep". Truly beautiful. Thank you for sharing your pics. I doubt that I will stand on any rocks that close. No other words other than just spectacularly beautiful. How lucky we are to be able to see such a thing?!?
fake and stupid
Which permits were required? I am finding very mixed info.
It's been a while, but I think it was a backcountry permit from the Grand Canyon NP. That said, no one ever checked.
@@PizzaManagement thanks for your response. I did the trail a couple weeks ago. I got the backcountry permit. All this time and still mixed messages from the people who should know from the customer service people, to the volunteers, to the rangers. The good news is the backcountry permit was allowed by both the volunteer and the ranger. But then on the way out I was told I'm supposed to have the park pass by the ranger as well. The lesson is: government is inconsistent and unknowlegeable. Thanks again.
@@deadbrother5355 Sorry for the slow response, we were in Big Bend NP as well as eclipse viewing near Eagle Pass, TX. Hope there weren't too many other people at Toroweap. And the view into the Canyon is unmatched. I just had to look at maps and it looks like you enter the park about 1km north of the ranger station.
@@PizzaManagement no worries. I really appreciate it. I just meant to say I appreciate any and all feedback since it has been tough getting it nailed down.
Manny is one of my distance cousins and my dad remembers him racing him and he wanted me to race to continue the legacy that manny start and I never got to meet manny but I love this video

i was born on this date. does that mean something?
Rip buzz
So what is someones driving from the other way? Seems a good reason to not allow driving in there
Where I my best friend
How do you come in from the east? Always go up there but usually hike in from west/ main entrance which is completely blocked off for vehicles
Sorry, not too familiar with the area -- I was following others who knew the route. Basically we started on S Shore Drive along Donner Lake, then worked our way over to the railroad on a series of forest roads. Sorry, that's the extent of my knowledge.
Great Video. Can you still drive through this?
As of 1-1/2 years ago, it was open with no "No Trespassing" signs. I have no reason to believe that has changed. That said, we were stopped by a Union Pacific employee and told we were not welcome there. He was so serious that he took photos of our license plates.
Enjoyed the video! We traveled to Tuweep last year. It’s an incredible view.

As a Leivas, I want to be the next.
HOW do I do this? Asking for a friend. My Jeep) OIIIIIIIO
Subsequent to the video, we learned from Union Pacific Railroad that they are not keen on people driving in the snow sheds. That said, I'd suggest busting out your Tahoe National Forest map and doing some homework. Safe travels!
@@PizzaManagement Thanks man. I’ll probably just walk it instead. Don’t want to step on any toes. Nice video. Thanks for taking us along.
@@rael6_4wd It seemed as if most people went in from the west/China Wall end of the sheds.
Makes you realize just how wuss today's graffiti artists have become. Sure, summertime, warm with careful, slow-driving motorists, dogs on leashes... kinda easy. Where were they back in the day? Belching black-smoke, fast-moving stream trains. Snow, cold, hungry... bears, Bigfoot and some mountain men and women rough n tough travelling graffiti artists known to eat other dead graffiti artists. What's it all coming to? Gracias por tu video. RT sends... envía, Puebla, México...
Thank you for posting this. Somewhere in a box I have this on vhs and loved watching it over and over as a kid. Thats right ABC, I recorded it. Haha! Thank you again!
Love the video. Do you think I’ll make it in a Dodge Grand Caravan? Ground clearance 5.8 inches. Have AT tires on. I don’t want to ask my husband, he may think I’m crazy 😜
If the road is dry, the Caravan can probably make it 95% of the way, then park the car and walk. After that, the road is 4x4 high clearance required.
@@PizzaManagement thank you so much for answering my question. It’s on my bucket list to take pictures of the canyon from that area. How far would I have to walk?
@@PizzaManagement Just found this map. I’m trying to add it to my comment, but I don’t know how. About 2 miles of walking.
@@renepoggenpoel1711 That sounds about right. The walk is over mostly slick rock, not difficult. And worth the walk.
Greetings from la Purísima 🤙
what's swimming like over there?
Under normal circumstances, you will not get wet (no swimming cap required). When wet, the mud is the consistency of tooth paste.
Is this an ohv trail?
When we went thru, there were no "no trespassing" signs, but a Union Pacific employee was not happy with us being there. So I would call this a hiking trail at best.

Wow!
Yes sir. No dented sheet metal, no broken glass.
Ok, Thats cool having the speed and elevation on there. What's the trick for that??! Nice video btw. and Toroweap is amazing!
How many and what kind of pizzas were ordered from that end of the world? Great video. I was hoping to see the Tuweep overlook at the end. Is the end of the road at the of the video or did the road keep going? Would you attempt it in a regular Subaru SUV with stock tires? or perhaps with special tires? NPS suggests a number of things beyond full-size spare tires.
Always deluxe pizzas with extra pepperoni! At the end of the video, we turn into the campground, but if you kept going straight, the viewpoint is another 3/4 mile. I'd say the road is Subaru-friendly 95% of the way -- if course all bets are off if the road is wet. I've seen SUVs parked where it starts to get rough (~2:40 into the video), then walk the rest of the way in (2 miles to the CG, 3 miles to canyon edge). There is no cell service out there, so you'll need to be self-sufficient. There are very few humans out there -- a plus in my book.
Got myself a '85 720, can't wait to see what it can do offroad, had no clue that they had this type of offroad pedigree 🤙
is that the one with the nap z twin spark four banger?
Have you been back or heard reports since you made this video?
i didn't see the beach
So cool. Feels like I'm driving. 👍
Good video. Road names/numbers would have been helpful.
